01About Japanese SUGI

Sugi (Japanese cedar) is one of Japan’s signature tree species.
Its lumber features clearly defined growth rings and grain that highlight the wood’s natural beauty.
Light, resilient, and easy to work, sugi is the most commonly used structural and finish wood in Japanese construction.

At KYOEI LUMBER, we manufacture not only YAKISUGI (charred cedar) but also sugi exterior cladding and interior paneling.
Please note: we generally do not sell logs or unprocessed rough boards (without secondary processing).
